One part of Top Hammer Drilling is the use of Drill Steel or Extension Rods.

These rods come in two different shapes, round or hexagonal, and with two different types of ends. The ends can be either M/M or M/F. If the M/M style is chosen, then couplings must be added to attach each drill steel together. If the M/F style is chosen, then there is no need for a coupling adapter. These Extension Rods (or Drill Steel) are hollow so that water or air can be transmitted up through the center along with the cuttings.

Pinnacle Drilling Products are suppliers of the following Drill Steel but can source other lengths or thread types if required.

•  T-38 x 12' or 14' in M/F or M/M variations, round
•  T-45 x 12' or 14' in M/F or M/M variations, round
•  T-51 x 12' or 14' in M/F or M/M variations, round
